Strategic Collaboration between the National Technical University of Athens and ΕΛΚΕΜΕ, the R&D Center of Viohalco Companies

The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with ΕΛΚΕΜΕ, the Research and Development (R&D) Center of the Viohalco companies, as part of the ongoing collaboration that has been developed by both sides. The aim of the cooperation is to strengthen and further promote initiatives and programs in the fields of education, research, innovation, and professional development.

 

Referring to the signing of the memorandum, the Rector of NTUA, Professor Ioannis ChatJigeorgiou, noted:

 

“Our goal is a Polytechnic open to society, outward-looking, with creative synergies and collaborations with distinguished institutions that share our vision of excellence, commitment to the younger generation and future scientists, innovation, and sustainable development. The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between NTUA and Viohalco, one of the country’s most historic industrial groups with a decisive contribution to Greece’s industrial and technological progress, is an important step for our Institution. It substantially strengthens the bridge that connects higher education and academic excellence with the economy and the labor market, for the benefit of the new generation of engineers. NTUA and the Viohalco companies, as well as ELKEME, have a long tradition of collaboration, and today’s agreement formalizes and further reinforces this long-standing relationship of trust.”

 

Mr. Kimon Daniilidis, General Director of ΕΛΚΕΜΕ, stated:
“The signing of the memorandum of cooperation constitutes the cornerstone of a substantial connection between industry and the academic community, in this case with NTUA. The activation of this cooperation will leverage the deep knowledge and experience of both sides, giving further impetus to the development of the sector while also supporting the effort to retain outstanding domestic scientific talent.”

  • Partnerships and promotion of innovative ideas and proposals in the fields of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy, and Architectural Design.
  • Development of Industrial Doctorates.
  • Creation of Professional Postgraduate Programs.
  • Opportunities for student internships and employment of NTUA graduates in Viohalco companies.
  • Provision of scholarships to outstanding students and graduates.
