With 9 Colleges, 33 Departments, 10.000 students, 1500 employees, and 700 faculty members [engaged in engineering, sciences, economics, management, physics and mathematics] the NTUA delivers top-level education and technology. Numerous laboratories are targeted to state-of-technology physical & mathematical modelling. Τhe EnviroSystems Group, College of Civil Engineering, Department of Water Resources- Hydraulics- and Maritime- Engineering, offers courses & educational services, assumes contract research & technology development, and delivers advisory & consulting services, for a wide spectrum of environmental sectors & media such as: climate-, air-, land-, water-, ecosystem- and natural-resources; environmental engineering technologies; and environmental sustainability plans encompassing social, institutional, legal, economic and life-cycle sciences. A strong emphasis is placed in state-of-knowledge mathematical simulation technologies of all types, including numerical modeling, use of systems optimization methods, employment of statistics, use of economic- and econometric-theories, modeling combined with artificial intelligence and legal analyses, and development & maintenance of national environmental databases. The Group is pioneering in environmental software development based on GIS and remote sensing techniques, information society technologies (IST), environmental data transfer, and web-based navigational technologies on the internet. Contract research is sponsored by Hellenic public and private organizations, the European Commission, and other bodies. It is conducted in cooperation with partners from Greece, the European Union, the Phare- Tacis- Ispa- Meda- and other European Union associated countries as Australia, the USA and Asia countries. International cooperation is a life-style for the EnviroSystems Group.
