The island of Samos is conceived as a field of developing machinic systems, which set the island in tension and redefine continuously the relation between its omoio-etero elements. Through this procedure, the approach of the machine as a catalyst of relations is emerged. Because of the physiognomy and the location of the island, the agencements which allow the development of social machines can be answered in their participation in networks.

Samos is redefined when old, now and future moments of tension ( activation of the latent potential ) are detected through the participation in networks. The university is a tensive locality on Samos and is defined as a locality at the intersection of three types of nets:

> data

> history

Then a production of a scheme (intended net) is ventured as the intersection of the netwroks in point. This scheme cannot be defined through a constant outline of a model. On the contrary it can be approached as a machinic interface which could enhance the self- and etero- designation of the island. This could generate virtually “not fashionable statements of forms” which are supported by new statements of living (new social, cultural and economic conditions).

1. a total network – the Aegean University

2. a net produced by a movement linking places

3. ad hoc nets formed by nets (collectivities)
